If you hunt deer in South Dakota, you have a short window of time to get your applications in for six popular hunting seasons.
Application deadlines for the East River, West River, Black Hills, Muzzleloader, Custer State Park, and Refuge deer hunting seasons have been moved up to a postmark of June 14 for paper applications and 8 a.m. CDT on June 19 online.
“This is a big change for our deer hunters,” said Game, Fish and Parks Deputy Secretary Kevin Robling. “Over 60,000 people hunt deer in this state and the deadlines for them to get their applications in have been moved to a much earlier date.”
Robling said that while a good number of hunters have their applications in, a majority do not.
“We know that most of our hunters apply during that last few days. We want to make sure anyone who is looking to hunt deer in South Dakota is aware of the new deadline.”
